After today I am really happy to have set a new electric record. We still have a little ways to go in presenting you a final product. Short of the wheels, everything functioned as expected and still shows much potential. In all the runs I was not able to pull the trigger to the end of its range and this excites me. I was genuinely still scared to keep going but very eager at the same time. I look forward to testing the updated nextboars.
From technical perspective I can say that I am very satisfied with the performance of the motors and software. There was no overheating of the motors so we can have them hermetically sealed to protect them. The combination of the motors, controller and batteries is optimal. The wheels are the problem to be resolved resolved. And we still have the remote/interface to fully develop in such a way that the board can be driven hands free to give you unique experience.
We have had amazing testing sessions with Mischo and the crew. We successfully tested the nextboards and set a world speed record on the electric longboard on flat ground (102.9 kph and 95.83 kph). Thanks to our hero Mischo Erban and Tone Gorup the chief engineer.
Setting a world speed record is a major milestone in the development of an electric skateboard. We‘ve developed a deeper insight into behavior of the skateboard. The nextboard proved itself to be capable of reaching high speed. There was enough power, the electronics was ok, some software adjustments were made…
As you can see from the videos the biggest issue facing us is the wheels The bond between the aluminum core and the urethane is something we are working immediately to try to resolve.
As Mischo already said in his previous interviews the communication between a skater and the skateboard is of great importance. The interface should be simple and safe yet open to the creativity of the rider to able to push the board to its limits. The remote controller should be carefully designed to achieve this delicate balance.
I’d like to thank the entire crew Tina, Tone, Borut from NGV, and specially to Mischo Erban and filming crew at FlyingFocus, Ana and Yvon.
I sure you’ll be hearing from us soon reaching for new speed record on the improved Nextboards.
